   Worst experience ever trying to get passports. Whatever you do, do not come here for a passport. You will regret it. DART currently is not doing passports so we will be traveling to Clackamas City Hall tomorrow for one remaining passport appocation, or East Portland USPS now that I read about someone having a positive experience there.
   I should have checked the reviews here first, but assumed it would be a straightforward task. Make the appointments online (5 weeks in advance because everything else is booked at every USPS in the city, needed 3 back to back appt for 3 kids,) complete the paperwork in advance using the forms from US Dept of State website, have birth certificates, photos (difficult with children and baby so this was a big task), both parents present, all 3 kids present. We took care of our part in advance so felt confident that the process could be smooth.
   First, our forms were immediately rejected by the passport agent. According to her, they won’t accept the forms as printed from the Department of State website. you didn’t print them long enough. They are 8.5×11. I printed them on paper of that size. Nothing is cut off but according to her, it is. Ok. Go to the counter and fill out blank forms that USPS provides. No mistakes she reminds me at least twice. Thanks.
   This poor woman tells me that she shouldn’t be working because she is grieving the loss of her son. Of course I empathize with her. But my goodness, this experience was the worst. She wasn’t rude, per se, just not helpful in the least and seemed to believe that we were idiots who have nothing but time. Our baby was crying after the 45 minute mark. It’s cool we can breastfeed anywhere. Thank goodness that’s not against the unwritten rules that only she knows. Or if it is, she was kind enough not to mention it.
   6 years ago we got a kid passport by making an appointment with DART. It took 10 minutes and was painless. I believe we printed the paperwork from the website that time, too. But I can’t be sure. I remember for certain, though, that I left thinking wow that was easier than I expected. Oh how I wish that were the case this time around. I can only hope that we jumped through all of the necessary flaming hoops yesterday so that the passports will arrive to us in time.
   Apologies to the people behind us in line. We were 10 mins early and had to wait until 15 minutes past our appt time. But the time we got out of there, 3 more people were waiting. The appt slots are 15 mins each. This goes to show how inefficient and frustrating it is to try to turn in your passport here.
