Staff unaware of insurance,but good pricing options. Owner Aurora clarified insurance,booked fixed price move. Christine answered inquiries before-move & Aurora called to confirm arrival time. Jose, Montel & Obie arrived on time & no one identified as crew chief. Discussed documentation & gave Angies List coupon,said to provide at job end. Told crew concerns were fragile items in boxes, labeled, so careful placement needed. Guys underestimated items in units, knew would take 8-10 hours, why I booked fixed price move. Had own moving blankets, did not need any of theirs. Said no paper pads on truck, but saw some later? Seemed to take care of goods but Montel careless & had an attitude. All did scoot furniture instead of picking up to move across floor. Load into 1st storage unit ok, Obie a good stacker but did bang on boxes to fit so reminded of “fragile” labels. Left room in first unit, in case all did not fit in second unit. Guys getting tired, worked slower & careless with goods. Asked if we should stop & finish next day. To them not an option & would complete project that night. Move went downhill & did not end well. Second unit not loaded well & not enough room for three pieces of furniture required in front. Obie argued about those pieces. Did he think I did not know my own furniture? Grew sloppier unloading & placing unnecessary items on furniture. Didn’t care about scratches & items sat outside in lieu of bringing in facility. Commented on efficiency of second unit load & careless handling of goods, Jose apologized, but Obie yelled & was irate. Ignored suggestions on placing items & moving items to first unit. Obie called company owner. I was the customer & concerns should have been addressed. He argued about moving blankets & wanted me to purchase theirs, I declined & said we could use cushions in between furniture. With him yelling & complaining to owner, just wanted to finish, but he walked off the job! I insisted they continue moving items & place in unit. Spoke with Aurora on phone who apologized for Obie’s behavior. Indicated she was coming to the facility. Upon arrival, she agreed second unit not loaded well & wanted to rearrange. It was late & I would not allow movement of items already in storage. Told them I wanted remaining pieces loaded in either unit, so could pay & leave. She got angry & said they were leaving with remaining items that had been loaded off truck and said write a check for total amount & we will load the remaining items into storage” She indicated I could not be trusted & afraid if they finished I would not pay them? NEVER gave indication of not paying, but did say payment was contingent on job completion per contract. Kept insisting I write her a check prior to them finishing job. Insisted the guys finish putting items into storage units, we would be done & payment made. She ignored requests, so who was untrustworthy? Then she told guys to load remaining items back on the truck & they were leaving. Told me when I brought a check to office would come back & load items into storage. So I called 911 since police were needed. Owner was holding items hostage until I paid her, but job was incomplete! Katy police arrived & per information said their trucks were stopped by an officer & refused to return goods until I paid them! I told officer at the storage facility with me, I NEVER gave indication of nonpayment, but would pay at job end. Moving trucks returned escorted by police (without Aurora) & crew unloaded remaining items to storage. I was treated unfairly, but wrote check since project finished. When gave Angie’s List coupon, they first declined, but then applied. I was called a liar, could not state opinion on goods handling or loading & items were stolen by them & held hostage until police intervened. Horrible experience! Good luck if you hire them, employees don’t know policies, you can’t be concerned how your items are handled or stored, will call you untrustworthy for no reason & police may be involved as they steal items & do not return until you pay for incomplete job.
